1/10/2012 - Lateral B Rd. Bin Fire
Units from YCFD #5 arrived to find a very large bin pile on fire; the fire was burning in the middle of the pile. There were approximately 300-400 bins on fire at this time. The fire had been started on the out side of the stack and burned inward. The pile turned out to have 14,000 bins and had no fire breaks. The fire was contained and fire dept. personnel used two Hyster forklifts to move the bins to gain access and extinguish the fire. The fire was human caused and started along the East side of the bins. The bin pile was valued at $560,000 with a loss of $16,000. For any questions, contact Deputy Chief Frazier. |
